Fiesta del Sol closes a mile of Cermak Road in Pilsen, from Ashland Avenue to Morgan Street, for four days at the end of July and start of August. Entry is free. Thursday opens at 3 p.m., the other days at 11 a.m., and each night ends at 10. Several stages carry live music, and local and regional vendors sell food along the whole mile. Carnival rides and games run in the street, with ride tickets sold at a booth at Allport and Cermak or ahead through the Mega Pass. Between the stalls, expo tents cover free health screenings, schools, housing and citizenship, and there is a children's area. On Sunday the Misa del Pueblo, a tradition there for nearly 15 years, turns the main stage into an altar.
