About this happenin
Taste of Lincoln Avenue fills Lincoln Avenue between Fullerton and Wrightwood, in Chicago's Lincoln Park, for a July weekend of food and craft vendors and bands from around the Midwest. The Wrightwood Neighbors Association started it in 1984 to fund the neighborhood group and still runs it as the annual fundraiser. Crowds that began at 10,000 now pass 50,000 over the weekend. Gate entry is $10 for all-day access, and the money becomes grants to local schools, charities, parks and libraries. Kids get a block of their own, the Kids' Carnival on Altgeld between Halsted and Lincoln, with inflatables and face painting plus a stage of kid acts. Entry to the carnival is free, though some games need tickets. Wine and whiskey tastings run alongside the festival.
More in July: 16 other Chicago events.
