About this happenin
Septemberfest is Schaumburg's three-day Labor Day weekend festival, held on the Robert O. Atcher Municipal Campus and the Al Larson Cultural Center grounds at 201 Schaumburg Court. Local charities started it in 1971 to raise money and give residents something to do instead of traveling for the holiday. The village has sponsored it for more than four decades. Admission is free. So are the shuttle buses and the lawn seating for music on three stages. The 40-acre grounds hold a carnival, an arts and crafts show, a craft beer and wine garden, bingo and the Taste of Schaumburg. A drone show has replaced the fireworks. On Monday morning the Labor Day parade runs 1.1 miles up Summit Drive. There is no public parking on the grounds, so most people park free at one of three schools and ride the shuttle over. The village says the weekend has historically drawn more than 100,000 people.
