About this happenin
The Chicago Pride Parade steps off at Grace Street and Broadway in Northalsted at 11 a.m. on the last Sunday in June and covers two miles of Lakeview and Lincoln Park. It goes south on Broadway and Halsted, east on Belmont, south on Broadway again, then east on Diversey to Cannon Drive. The first march, in 1970, drew 100 to 150 people from Washington Square Park to the Civic Center, a day before New York and Los Angeles held theirs. PRIDEChicago, a volunteer-run nonprofit, produces it now, and it takes about three hours to pass. It is free and needs no tickets. Halsted between Belmont and Addison is the busiest stretch. The accessible viewing area near Diversey and Clark is one of the quieter ones.
More in June: 21 other Chicago events.
