Riverside Arts Weekend sets up artist booths in Guthrie Park, in the center of the village of Riverside, Illinois, for a free Saturday and Sunday in June. Artists sell their work and some show how it is made, glass blowing and live painting among them. Bands play the main stage in the middle of the park, local authors sign books, and food vendors cover lunch. Children get an art booth of their own. The Community Art Piece hands local artists the same object to decorate. It has been tables, bird houses, cedar planter boxes and wooden oars, and the finished pieces are auctioned to pay for the festival. RAW started in 2008. A not-for-profit with its own board runs it, with support from the Village of Riverside and local businesses.
