More than 600 artists, designers and makers sell their own work at the One of a Kind Show and Sale, on the 7th floor of the Merchandise Mart in River North. The big show comes in early December, and a shorter spring show follows at the same address. Thousands of handmade products in 20 categories fill six aisles, with set areas for a fashion district, a gourmet market, a fine art gallery and emerging artists. Artists give demonstrations on the center stage each day. Marwen runs free hands-on art workshops for kids. Cafes and bars on the floor mean nobody has to leave to grab lunch, and courtesy carts take the weight of the shopping. On every evening of the show, Art on the Mart projects digital art onto the building from 7:30 p.m. Holiday admission is $15 and good for all four days. Children under 12 get in free.
