For one weekend in early June, the grounds of St. George Greek Orthodox Church at 2701 N. Sheffield Avenue become Lincoln Park Greek Fest. Greek immigrants founded the parish in 1923, buying the Lutheran church on that corner and adapting it in time for Orthodox services that April. Admission is a $10 suggested donation, and all proceeds go to the church. You pay for food and drink where you order it, in cash or by card, and no tickets are sold. Bands play all three days, with Greek folk dance troupes on Saturday and Sunday. A craft fair runs all weekend, and there are games for kids. The CTA Brown Line stops at Diversey, and there is valet parking as well as street parking.
