FoBAB, Festival of Wood and Barrel-Aged Beer
525 S Racine Ave, Chicago, IL 60607
About this happenin
FoBAB, the Festival of Wood and Barrel-Aged Beer, fills Credit Union 1 Arena at 525 S. Racine Avenue in Chicago for a weekend in mid-November. Two tasting sessions, one Friday evening and one Saturday afternoon, pour more than 250 beers, ciders, meads and perries, each aged in contact with wood or in barrels. Many are brewed only for the festival. They are judged in 13 style categories, with gold, silver and bronze medals and a Best in Show. The awards are handed out during the Saturday session and livestreamed. A second-floor Lager Lounge pours lighter beer for anyone who wants a rest from the high-ABV samples on the main floor. FoBAB is the largest annual fundraiser for the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild.
More in November: 8 other Chicago events.
