About this happenin
Dawes Park, on the lakefront along Sheridan Road in Evanston, hosts two days of folk music at the Evanston Folk Festival. Three stages share the day, none of them enormous, and a conversation tent hosts talks on songwriting and the history of folk music. Sets run from solo players to full bands, though most are stripped down. Gates have opened at 11:30 a.m. and the music has ended at 8:30 p.m., after which ticketed shows go on at SPACE and Cahn Auditorium. Children under 12 get in free and ages 12 to 16 pay half price at the gate. Bring a folding chair if you want one. Bars are cashless. Food vendors include vegan and gluten-free choices, and free water stations fill reusable bottles. It runs rain or shine. Metra Davis and the Purple Line are a few blocks from the north entrance, and bikes are not allowed inside.
