About this happenin
The Illinois Restaurant Association runs Chicago Gourmet, a ticketed food and wine festival centered on the Harris Theater Rooftop at Millennium Park in late September. It is a run of separate events, each with its own name and its own chef hosts. Recent editions paired tacos with tequila on one night and held a burger competition, the Hamburger Hop, on another. Grand Cru brings food from more than 30 chefs and pours wine and spirits across two Saturday sessions, while chefs cook on the Pritzker Pavilion stage nearby. Rise & Shine Gourmet closes the weekend with brunch and cocktails. A Dine Around Series at restaurants across Chicagoland comes earlier in the month. Each ticket covers the food, drinks and entertainment at that event. Guests must be 21 or older, and only service animals are allowed in. Proceeds go to the Illinois Restaurant Association Educational Foundation, which pays for scholarships and career programs for hospitality students.
More in September: 21 other Chicago events.
