About this happenin
Choirs and headlining gospel artists take the stage of the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park each July for the Chicago Gospel Music Festival, which the City of Chicago puts on for free. When it runs over two days, Friday is an evening concert at the Pavilion. Saturday opens at noon on the North Promenade with community showcase performances, broadcast live by Inspiration 1390, the City's radio partner on the festival. From late afternoon until 9 p.m. the Pavilion stage belongs to Chicago choirs and the headliners. The City calls it a festival for audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Enter from Michigan Avenue at Washington or Madison Street, or from Randolph or Monroe Street. ASL interpretation is provided for the mainstage shows, and the Patron Services Tent on the Pavilion's west walkway lends wheelchairs and assistive listening devices.
More in July: 16 other Chicago events.
