Bronzeville Smooth Jazz Festival
3701-3800 S King Dr, Chicago, IL 60653
About this happenin
Smooth jazz fills the 3700 block of South King Drive in Bronzeville, Chicago, for one free Saturday in early August. The Bronzeville Smooth Jazz Festival books smooth jazz recording artists and runs from noon to 8:30 p.m., rain or shine, with no registration. Frank Goss III, a Chicago jazz impresario, created it, and Bronzeville Helping Hand, a South Side nonprofit founded in 2001, counts it among its cultural programs. Parking is in nearby lots and on the surrounding streets, so allow time for the walk. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket. Personal tents and coolers are allowed, and so is food from home. Food vendors and food trucks work the festival, and approved vendors may sell beer, wine and spirits. Children of any age are welcome.
More in August: 13 other Chicago events.
