About this happenin
The African/Caribbean International Festival of Life is a three-day outdoor festival of reggae and world music, international food, crafts and family activities in a Chicago park. The first one was held at Hawthorne Park Racetrack in 1993, drew an estimated 6,000 people, and nearly doubled in size the next year. It has since moved between City Front Center near Navy Pier, Washington Park, Union Park and the South Loop, and the organiser says it has averaged more than 30,000 visitors a year. Sets have run from noon to 10 p.m. on each of the three days. A one-day ticket can be used on any one of the days, and children under 12 get in free with an adult. Recent editions have shared the weekend with the Jerk, Seafood and Vegan Fest.
