About

Ogunquit, Maine, has one long spit of white sand with the Ogunquit River behind it, and three ways onto it: Main Beach, Footbridge Beach and North Beach. A bridge across the river joined the spit to the mainland in 1888. Park at the end of Beach Street for Main Beach, or at the end of Ocean Street for Footbridge. The beach is piping plover habitat, so it's closed to dogs from April 1 to September 9.
