You don't need a fishing license on the Jacksonville Beach pier, which runs nearly a quarter mile out into the Atlantic. Surfers and swimmers have to stay 300 feet clear of it. Alcohol and glass aren't allowed on the beach. Dogs are, at any hour from October through March. From April through September they're allowed only before 9 a.m. or after 5 p.m.
