Tampa Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade

Visiting HBCU marching bands headline the two-mile Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade through East Tampa, and tens of thousands line the route. The brass has plenty of company: high school bands, dance teams, classic cars, motorcycle clubs, horses and church floats. Beads and candy go out to the kids at the barricades, so bring a bag. The Dr. Martin Luther King Parade Foundation lines the parade up at Cuscaden Park, 2900 N 15th Street, and steps off at noon. It finishes near Middleton High School on N 22nd Street. Watching from the curb is free. Closures on N 15th Street, N 22nd Street, E 21st Avenue and E Dr Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard typically run from early morning until early evening, so park a few blocks off the route and walk in. Souvenir sellers set up along the route among the food and drink vendors.
