Krewe of Sant'Yago Illuminated Knight Parade
E 7th Ave, Ybor City, Tampa, FL 33605
About this happenin
Ybor City's brick main street turns into a river of light when the Krewe of Sant'Yago rolls its Illuminated Knight Parade down Seventh Avenue each February. The krewe has staged it every year since 1974, and it is billed as the largest illuminated night parade in the South: more than 100 organizations in the lineup, lit floats built like castles and crowns, marching bands, dance troupes, and costumed knights in velvet capes throwing beads to a crowd packed shoulder to shoulder in front of the old cigar factories. The krewe also throws an official pre-party at Carmine's in Ybor the night before. Know before you go: watching from the sidewalk is free, and the krewe sells reserved bleacher seats along the route in advance through its site or at 813-248-3088. The parade steps off in the evening, usually around 7pm, and runs on Seventh Avenue. It draws families and all ages. Bring a bag for the throws.
