The Krewe of Sant'Yago's Illuminated Knight Parade rolls down Seventh Avenue in Ybor City each February, with costumed knights in velvet capes throwing beads from lit floats built like castles and crowns. It hasn't missed a year since 1974 and is billed as the largest illuminated night parade in the South. More than 100 organizations make up the lineup, including marching bands and dance troupes, and the crowd packs shoulder to shoulder along the brick main street in front of the old cigar factories. The sidewalk is free standing room. For a seat, the krewe sells reserved bleachers along the route in advance, through its site or at 813-248-3088. The parade steps off in the evening, usually around 7pm, and draws families and all ages. Bring a bag for the throws. The night before, the krewe throws an official pre-party at Carmine's in Ybor.
