Gulfport GeckoFest
3101 Beach Blvd S, Gulfport, FL 33707
About this happenin
Gulfport closes Beach Boulevard to cars on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend and hands the street over to gecko masks, two music stages and a costume parade. The end-of-summer party is run by the Gulfport Merchants Chamber and leans hard into the town's self-declared weirdness. Aerialists, fire eaters, magicians, dancers and balloon artists work the crowd at close range between rows of art, craft and food vendors, and the reigning Gecko Queen leads a wacky walking parade down the boulevard in the early evening. It closes out GeckoWorld, a run of related events that includes the Gecko Art Show, the Gecko Crawl and the Gecko Ball. Know before you go: admission and parking are free, the festival runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the parade steps off at 6 p.m. Courtesy shuttles carry visitors from off-site lots to the festival gates, so park away from the waterfront and ride in. Costumes are encouraged, and the day is built for families.
