Each March the Florida Brewers Guild gathers more than 70 Florida breweries under the Sulphur Springs water tower to open Tampa Bay Beer Week with roughly 200 beers. River Tower Park fills with tents, food trucks, craft vendors and a DJ, and admission includes a commemorative sampling glass you carry from table to table. Proceeds support the Guild, the nonprofit that represents Florida's independent brewers. Know before you go: this is a 21 and over event, so it is not one for kids. General admission covers 2pm to 5pm, VIP adds an hour of early pouring plus a shaded area with tables and chairs, and a cheaper designated driver ticket gets you in for the music, food and vendors. Parking is free, though organizers push hard for a rideshare or a sober driver. It runs rain or shine. Coolers are out, picnic chairs are fine, and leashed dogs are welcome.
