Fireworks over the Hillsborough River close out Tampa's city-run Fourth of July. The afternoon before, Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park has live bands and food trucks, a kids zone, a patriotic pet show, a water ski exhibition on the river and a beer garden for the grown-ups. Recent years have added a drone show ahead of the shells. The city has occasionally spread the night across Armature Works and Sparkman Wharf instead, and the branding has changed for special occasions, so the venue and the name can shift from year to year. On-site parking at the park is limited, and downtown garages are the easier way in. Two free rides skip the parking question entirely: the fare-free TECO Line Streetcar and the city's event trolleys. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome; glass, grills, personal fireworks, drones and outside alcohol are not. Admission is free, with activities through the afternoon and evening.
