Richmond County Fair
441 Clarke Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10306
About this happenin
Every Labor Day weekend, Historic Richmond Town turns 25 acres of its village on Staten Island into the Richmond County Fair. It has run since 1980 and draws more than 15,000 people. It is also the museum's biggest fundraiser, and ticket money goes toward preserving Staten Island's history. Over 100 vendors line the streets selling food and antiques, and cultural groups and local nonprofits set up tables along Richmond Road for the Staten Island Culture Crawl. Carnival rides and games share the grounds with a three-day music festival of Staten Island acts. Last tickets are sold at 7pm each day. In the old village, costumed interpreters demonstrate carpentry and broom making. Anyone can enter the Locally Grown vegetable contest, and the hot dog and wing eating contests are open to kids and adults.
More in September: 8 other New York events.
