About this happenin

Saturday nights from April through October, more than 100 independent vendors set up in the parking lot behind the New York Hall of Science in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, selling food alongside art and merchandise, with small cultural performances between the stalls. It runs 4 p.m. to midnight, rain or shine unless the weather turns dangerous, and takes a break in late summer for the U.S. Open. Getting in is free. The exception is the pair of sneak preview nights that open the season, which are ticketed to keep the crowds down. Bring cash, since most vendors work in it, though there are ATMs on site. You can carry in your own food and drink but not alcohol. Take the 7 to 111th Street and walk four blocks south. The lot next door charges $15 a car, and the market doesn't run it.
