About this happenin
The New Orleans Fringe Festival is a multi-venue theater marathon in November, run by the nonprofit Friends of New Orleans Fringe, with the New Marigny Theatre on Marais Street among its hosts. Its days land earlier or later in the month from one edition to the next. The model is Edinburgh's fringe: independent, experimental work where circus, burlesque, dance and spoken word share a program with plays. Tickets come by venue, with all-access and day passes alongside. The festival first ran from 2008 to 2014, and by 2013 the schedule held 77 shows, in the Marigny and Bywater as well as Central City. Then it stopped for more than a decade. It has come back under new leadership, with the blessing of the earlier producers.
