About this happenin
LUNA Fête brings a festival of light to downtown New Orleans, built around large-scale projection mapping on Gallier Hall at 545 St. Charles Avenue. Artists fit moving images to the building itself, so the whole front becomes the picture. Arts New Orleans, which has run it since 2014, bills it as the longest-running festival of its kind in the country. Once daylight fades, the surrounding blocks fill with illuminated art, music, performances, interactive pieces and holiday shopping, with the installations spreading from Lafayette Street to the Piazza d'Italia. Most of the programming is free and open to the public. A $10 donation is suggested on site, and entry to the Piazza d'Italia is $15 (twelve and under free). The VIP suite in Gallier Hall, with an open bar and small bites, is sold in advance. The dates have moved before, from December to November.
More in November: 11 other New Orleans events.
