Downtown Gretna's own restaurants and bars sit inside the gates at Gretna Fest, a music festival on the Gretna riverfront in Jefferson Parish. The grounds take in a working piece of downtown. The Gretna Economic Development Association has run it since 1994, and it grew from a small community event into one of the largest festivals in Louisiana. It runs Friday to Sunday, and the 2023 through 2025 editions all fell on the first weekend of October. Local and national acts take the stage, with food vendors and arts and crafts between sets. In 2025 it sold single-day and weekend passes, and children 12 and under were admitted free. To drive in, take the Lafayette Street exit off the Westbank Expressway to the service road, then turn right on Huey P. Long Avenue. Construction on the Gretna Marketplace turned 2026 into a four-Saturday concert series called Gretna Festin'. The organizer said the full weekend would return in 2027, with its main entrance in the renovated marketplace.
