About this happenin
Commissioned light art fills the Greenway Plaza and Greenway Station for three nights every December, right where the Lafitte Greenway meets Bayou St. John in New Orleans. Local artists light the tree canopy and the inside of the Station. Some pieces are interactive, and children climb on them. Two stages carry local musicians, and a holiday arts market of about 30 art vendors and 10 food vendors sets up alongside. Entry is free. Hours are 5 to 9 p.m. each night, and the parking lot between the Station and the Plaza turns pedestrian-only while it runs, so come on foot or bike in along the Greenway. The event doubles as the Greenway's annual fundraiser, and the Lafitte Greenway Partnership counts more than 8,000 visitors over the three nights.
