Yachty Gras is a Mardi Gras boat parade on Clear Lake, put on by the Yachty Gras Foundation and billed as America's largest. Boats start in the lake, pass the Kemah Boardwalk and turn around in Galveston Bay before heading back, powerboats first and sailboats last. The parade starts at 7 p.m. and goes under the Kemah bridge, passing the Aquarium first and Landry's and the boardwalk rides last. Boaters decorate in Mardi Gras lights and themes and throw beads to the crowd on the boardwalk, and some boats make more than one pass. It is a family-friendly night. A boaters awards breakfast follows the next morning, with awards for the top three sailboats and the top three powerboats.
