Lunar New Year Festival (Chinese Community Center)

The Chinese Community Center holds its Lunar New Year Festival on its own campus at 9800 Town Park Drive, in Houston's Asiatown. It has been an annual tradition there since 2003. The Dragon and Tiger Stage is the main attraction, and the day's opening ceremony takes place on it. Lion and dragon dances share the stage with a kung fu demonstration, and a traditional Chinese music orchestra plays there too. Inside the center's USA Sports Center, the Good Wishes Arts Center sets out hands-on crafts for families, calligraphy and origami among them, and explains the animals of the Chinese zodiac. The outdoor Lucky Find Bazaar gathers more than 50 vendors, from restaurants and food trucks to local businesses and nonprofits. Games and vendor giveaways fill it out, and Lunar New Year backdrops are set up for photos.
