About this happenin
Día de los Muertos at Discovery Green is a free afternoon and evening on the park's Sarofim Picnic Lawn, 1500 McKinney Street, downtown, held around November 1. The park has put it on since 2018. Visitors bring a photo or keepsake of someone they have lost and add it to a community ofrenda built by a Houston artist. The Catrín y Catrina parade and contest gives out prizes in separate kids, teens and adults divisions. Traditional performances and live music run through the event, with food, crafts and vendors around the lawn.
