About this happenin
Fort Worth's own film festival runs for several days around the start of November, with screenings at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and the Kimbell Art Museum. The Lone Star Film Society, a nonprofit, puts on the Lone Star Film Festival. Its mission is to build an appreciation of the moving image as an art form and to show off the city, and MovieMaker Magazine has named the festival a Top 50 film festival. The program mixes blocks of short films with features and a few special screenings. Badges and tickets are sold online. Film talks and happy hours happen at the festival hotels, and a black-tie gala raises money for the society. The society screens films all year and runs film education programs, including two-week summer film camps for teenagers.
