Greek Food Festival of Dallas
13555 Hillcrest Road, Dallas, TX 75240
About this happenin
For a weekend each November, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Hillcrest Road in Dallas turns its grounds into the Greek Food Festival of Dallas, and the money raised goes to the church. It grew out of a ladies' bazaar in 1955, run by the women of Philoptochos, the church's charitable group, and the festival still asks you to thank them when you buy pastries in the courtyard. Food booths sell gyros, souvlaki, spanakopita, lamb chops grilled over hardwood charcoal and loukoumades in warm honey syrup. The Taverna pours Greek wine and beer. The Agora is the marketplace, with Greek groceries and jewelry stalls. Church tours leave every half hour between choir and Byzantine chant presentations, and there is Greek dancing. General admission tickets are required, and children 10 and under get in free.
More in November: 14 other Dallas-Fort Worth events.
