Fort Worth Greek Festival
2020 NW 21st St, Fort Worth, TX 76164
About this happenin
St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church holds its Greek Festival at 2020 NW 21st Street in Fort Worth over a weekend in November, Friday through Sunday. Entry and parking are free. Visitors park at North Side High School and ride a shuttle to the church, and everything is indoors or under tents, so rain changes nothing. Families from the parish do the cooking. The indoor menu has roast leg of lamb after 5 p.m., Athenian chicken baked in lemon, olive oil and garlic, pastitsio, spanakopita, moussaka and dolmathes, sold as lunch and dinner combos. Outside, the Plaka stand sells gyro and souvlaki sandwiches, fried calamari, saganaki flamed in brandy and Greek fries topped with feta. Baked goods and frozen dishes to heat later are sold to take home. The church's dance groups perform through the weekend, from the youngest troupe at ages 4 to 8 up to a young-adult group. Tours of the sanctuary run with the parish priest.
More in November: 14 other Dallas-Fort Worth events.
