About this happenin
The Mesquite Arts Center at 1527 N. Galloway Avenue holds its Dia de los Muertos Celebration on a Saturday afternoon in late October, indoors and out. Entry is free, and it goes ahead rain or shine. Guests bring names and photographs to add to the community ofrendas, and art installations and exhibitions fill the building. Latin DJs and dance troupes share a courtyard stage and a main stage out front, with flamenco and folklorico among the dances. Food vendors and local artisans set up outside, and the decorations include traditional papel picado. Teaching artists run hands-on craft stations for ages 3 to 99 and up for most of the afternoon.
More in October: 17 other Dallas-Fort Worth events.
