About this happenin
Taste of Polonia is a four-day Polish festival at the Copernicus Center in Jefferson Park, held Friday to Monday over Labor Day weekend. The organizers call it the largest and oldest Polish festival in the USA, and the first one ran in 1980. Food vendors sell pierogi, kielbasa, cabbage rolls, potato pancakes and more. The festival pours several specialty Polish beers, and a full bar sits in the Copernicus Center lobby. On the Tribute Stage, polka bands play by day and tribute and rock bands take over at night. The Theater Stage carries folk dancing, symphony performances, theatrical groups and movies by day, then bands from Poland. There is a Kids Zone, and children 12 and under get in free. Food vendors take cards only, and cash buys admission at the gate.
