About this happenin

On a Sunday each June ISKCON Chicago holds Rath Yatra Chicago, its Festival of Chariots, with a procession through Rogers Park that ends in a festival by the lakefront. The deities Lord Jagannath, His brother Baladeva and His sister Subhadra ride on a chariot while devotees lead the chanting, and the parade has stepped off at 11 a.m. in recent years. The festival afterward fills Loyola Beach Park with kirtan that runs for hours, free vegetarian food, a tent of books and devotional items, and a traditional dance performance. The temple, at 1716 W. Lunt Avenue, is where the three deities live the rest of the year.
