1852 W 19th St, Chicago, IL 60608
About this happenin
Community ofrendas and live performances fill Harrison Park, beside the National Museum of Mexican Art in Pilsen, for Dia de los Muertos Xicago, a free Day of the Dead evening on a Saturday in late October. The museum adds art activities and an illuminated ofrenda projected onto its building, where photos of the people being remembered appear in alphabetical order by last name. It runs rain or shine, and lawn chairs are welcome. Sign language interpreters and captioning in English and Spanish are provided. The museum also mounts a Day of the Dead exhibition in its Main Gallery each fall, open from late September through November. Entry to the museum is always free, and the CTA Pink Line's Damen and 18th Street stops serve the area.
More in October: 13 other Chicago events.
