Chicago Auto Show
2301 S King Dr, Chicago, IL 60616
The Hyatt Regency on King Drive, the nearest of the hotels around McCormick Place, is a three-minute walk from the show floor, which counts for something in February. Little else nearby will feed you, so dinner is the hotel's or a taxi downtown.
About this happenin
McCormick Place fills with new cars for more than a week every February at the Chicago Auto Show. The show was first staged in 1901, and the organizer says no other auto show on the continent has run more times. The Chicago Automobile Trade Association has produced it since 1935. Cars and trucks from more than two dozen manufacturers take up the floor, with world and North American debuts and concept vehicles among them. The SuperCar Gallery shows exotic brands that usually skip auto shows. Indoor test tracks sit on the show floor, and outdoor test drives run alongside. The Family Zone is built for kids aged 2 to 16, with a Power Wheels track and racing simulators. Chi-Town Alley celebrates Chicago car culture, and Overlanding Chicago shows trail rigs and the gear that goes on them. The night before the show opens, a black-tie benefit called First Look for Charity raises money for area nonprofits.
More in February: 6 other Chicago events.
