About this happenin
Midwest FurFest is one of the largest furry conventions in the world, held over four days each December at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont. It started in 2000 with 388 attendees and now draws more than 17,000. The founders wanted a place for the community to learn anthropomorphic art and performance, and a way to raise money for good causes. Midwest Furry Fandom, Inc., the nonprofit that runs it, has given more than $900,000 to charity. A standard badge opens the Dealers Den, Artist Alley, Art Show and game room, along with the panels and dances. The Fursuit Dance Competition has been a headline event since 2011, and its finalists perform on Sunday afternoon. Everyone needs a badge, whatever their age, and registration is in Hall F. Standard membership is $100 in pre-registration and $110 at the con.
More in December: 6 other Chicago events.
