About

A long flight of stairs runs from the bluff at Twelvemile Beach Campground, in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, down to 12 miles of Lake Superior sand. The campground, off County Road H-58 about 15 miles west of Grand Marais, is open May 15 to October 15. All 36 sites have to be reserved on Recreation.gov. For the western end, inside the Beaver Basin Wilderness, walk the 1.5-mile trail from the lot at the end of Little Beaver Lake Road.
