A few wolves on Isle Royale, a wilderness island in Lake Superior, have shown an interest in human food, so yours goes in a locker or a hard-sided container. The park is closed from November 1 to April 15. The Ranger III from Houghton takes about six hours, and the shorter boats from Copper Harbor, Michigan, and Grand Portage, Minnesota, make a day trip possible, with 3 to 4 hours ashore. The seaplane from Hubbell takes about 40 minutes. Divers go down to the SS America, whose engine room and cabins are still intact.
