Florida's largest anime convention fills the Tampa Convention Center for three days of cosplay, vendors, panels, and the signature Anime Human Chess Match, where anime and video-game characters battle across a live board. Run by Team Dynamite Productions, MetroCon packs the downtown waterfront hall with gaming competitions, cosplay contests, a Maid Cafe, a Manga Library, the Masquerade, and a late-night Rave. Know before you go: doors open Friday at 10 a.m., Saturday at 9 a.m. (both running late, until 2:30 a.m.), and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Badges are sold online in advance or onsite, and all onsite sales are cashless, so bring a card. The convention is tagged for kids, youth, and family, though the Rave and Masquerade skew later in the night. Parking runs through the Tampa Convention Center's own garages, so check its site for rates. Costumes are encouraged and comfortable shoes are essential for the long convention floor.
