Florida's largest anime convention returns to the downtown waterfront, filling the Tampa Convention Center with three days of cosplay, panels, and a packed exhibit hall. Metrocon draws thousands of fans in costume for its world-famous Anime Human Chess Match, stage shows, gaming tournaments, a maid cafe, a manga library, and a late-night rave and masquerade. Know before you go: doors run noon to 11 pm each day. A three-day pass is $95 in advance through July 20 and $100 at the door; single days run $50 Friday, $60 Saturday, and $45 Sunday. Kids ages 6 to 12 pay less, and children under 6 get in free with a paying adult. Onsite sales are cashless, so bring a card. Daytime programming is family-friendly, with the rave and 18-plus events saved for evening. Team Dynamite Productions presents the weekend. Saturday is the busiest day, so arrive early and wear comfortable shoes for the vendor floor.
