Field of Screams is a haunted trail through the Pinellas Pioneer Settlement at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve, rebuilt around a new theme every Halloween. The TASCO teen division of St. Petersburg Parks and Recreation designs and builds it, which is why the scares lean homemade rather than franchise: a pioneer village turned inside out, scare zones staged along the preserve's wooded paths, and crews who know exactly where you cannot see. Gates open at 7 p.m. and the last screams die out around midnight, across a run of nights over Halloween weekend. Know before you go: presale tickets are $10 online, with a limited number at the gate on the night for $15. All sales are final, and presale buyers need their receipt and a current photo ID to collect. Expect darkness, loud noises, bright lights and wooded trail underfoot rather than pavement. The city states plainly that it is not suitable for young children and advises adult supervision.
