About this happenin
Kenner marks Lundi Gras, the Monday before Mardi Gras, with a free street party in Rivertown, the riverfront district along Williams Boulevard. Recent editions ran from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the Meeting of the Courts comes first: the royalty of the Krewe of Zulu and the Krewe of Argus greet each other and exchange gifts, a ceremony the City of Kenner has hosted for more than two decades. Get there early for it. The Krewe du Kenner wagon float parade follows. A band plays afterward, and food and craft vendors work the street. Families register a wagon through the city's Civic Rec site, then decorate it and walk it down the street alongside the royal courts, throws in hand.
More in February: 3 other New Orleans events.
