Viernes Culturales / Cultural Fridays
1637 SW 8th St, Miami, FL 33135
About this happenin
On the last Friday of the month, Calle Ocho fills with live music, more than 30 local artists, cigar rollers, and clacking dominoes across the heart of Little Havana. Viernes Culturales has run this free street party since 2000, and it stays the neighborhood's most unfiltered night: galleries throw open their doors, artisans set up along the sidewalk, and the smell of Cuban coffee drifts out of every corner ventanita. Know before you go: Admission is free. The festivities kick off at noon and carry into the evening, and at 7pm historian Dr. Paul George leads a free Little Havana walking history tour. The action spreads along SW 8th Street roughly between 8th and 27th Avenues, so wander rather than plant yourself in one spot. It is family-friendly and easy to graze, so come hungry and pause at Maximo Gomez (Domino) Park to watch the games. Bring cash for the vendors and comfortable shoes for the stroll.
