Viet Cultural Fest
1 Reliant Park, Houston, TX 77054
About this happenin
For one Saturday in September, Reliant Center in Reliant Park holds Viet Cultural Fest, which its organisers call the largest Vietnamese festival in Texas. The Vietnamese Culture and Science Association presents it. Three young Vietnamese Americans started it in 2019 to reconnect with their roots, and they meant it to become an annual tradition for people of every age and background in Houston. Each year the festival takes a different chapter of Vietnamese heritage as its theme. Traditional performances share the stage with competitions, among them a children's traditional dress contest tied to the Mid-Autumn Festival. Around the hall there are food booths, cultural exhibits, folk games and hands-on activities for all ages. Health screenings, civic education tables, community groups and Vietnamese-owned businesses take booths too. Tickets are sold online. Parking is paid at the gate, and the METRORail Red Line stops at Stadium Park/Astrodome for anyone who would rather skip the lot.
More in September: 4 other Houston events.
