About this happenin

The Houston Barbecue Festival is a Sunday afternoon tasting at the Humble Civic Center Arena Complex, where 25 or more invited barbecue joints hand out samples. A general admission or VIP ticket includes tasting portions from every joint on site, and beer and wine cost extra. It has run from 1 to 4 p.m. with VIP entry at noon, and VIP ticket holders also take home a T-shirt and goodie bag. HOUBBQ, an independent local group, started the festival in 2013 to show that Houston barbecue holds its own against any other regional style and to recognize the owners and pitmasters behind it. It was held at NRG Park for four years and has been in Humble since 2018. Organizers expect 1,500 to 2,000 guests.
