About this happenin
Bayou City Art Festival is a juried fine art fair held twice a year in Houston: in Sam Houston Park downtown each March, and in Memorial Park each October. About 300 artists show work across 19 disciplines, picked by a jury that scores every application blind, and an Emerging Artist program takes people new to fine art festivals. Visitors can meet the artist behind a piece, ask how it was made and buy it. Tickets are bought online ahead of time, and a general admission ticket is good for any day of the festival. Memorial Park has no on-site parking, so a paid shuttle runs from Delmar Stadium. A food truck park sits in the middle of the grounds, with a craft beer garden and a live music stage nearby. In the Active Imagination Zone the festival's nonprofit partners run craft tables for kids, and a share of the proceeds goes to those partners. The Art Colony Association, a local nonprofit, has produced the festival for more than 50 years. It started out as the Westheimer Colony Art Festival.
