About this happenin
Shakespeare in the Park is two seasons of fully produced Shakespeare on the lawn of the Samuell-Grand Amphitheatre in East Dallas, one in summer and one in fall. Shakespeare Dallas, the company behind it, goes back to 1972, when Bob Glenn performed a free one-man Hamlet at Fair Park. The casts are classically trained actors, and attendance usually tops 30,000 a year. Summer shows start at 8:30pm and fall shows at 8pm. Each runs about two and a half hours. Seating is the grass. Low-back chairs go in front and high-back chairs behind. Blankets can go in either section. Food is welcome, and adults 21 and over can bring beer and wine but no hard liquor. Gated parking by the entrance is $7 a car, and the street is free. Dogs stay home except on the Bark in the Park nights the company announces on social media. No show is cancelled for weather before curtain; the call comes no later than 30 minutes after start time.
More in June: 9 other Dallas-Fort Worth events.
