Local and international galleries take booths at the Fashion Industry Gallery, 1807 Ross Avenue in the Dallas Arts District, for the Dallas Art Fair each April. The work is modern and contemporary, hung in a 74,000 square foot mid-century modern building with polished concrete floors and natural light. A Thursday evening VIP preview and benefit opens the fair, and the public days run Friday to Sunday. The fair was founded in 2009. Through the Dallas Art Fair Foundation it has given more than $3 million to Dallas museums and cultural institutions, and since 2016 a fund the foundation runs with the Dallas Museum of Art has bought works off the fair floor for the museum's permanent collection.
